.. busy busy busy..

We have been pretty busy the past few months! Cody's school work has really picked up and I am still working full time in the admissions office. I had a goal to blog every other week when we first moved to Mississippi, but that goal has obviously gone downhill real quick! Well, I guess I'll start with our first Southern Miss football game.

Minus the fact that we felt like we were melting the whole game, it was a pretty cool experience. The heat and poor performance of the Golden Eagles this season have kept us from attending more games, but we're glad we at least got one in. Better luck next year Eagles..

I cut Cody's hair for the first time in September. I felt the need to document my accomplishment once I finished. I know it's pretty much impossible to mess up a buzz cut, but I really wouldn't be surprised if I screwed it up. Luckily, it turned out :)

Yes, that is my temple dress hanging in the background. We went to the Baton Rouge, LA temple for the first time that weekend. That really was the reason we cut Cody's hair.. he was beginning to look a little homely, so we thought we should probably clean him up for our trip to the temple.

The drive to Baton Rouge was a little stressful. I drove because Cody had plans to study on the way there since it's a 2 1/2 hour drive, but I don't think he got much studying accomplished. It rained the WHOLE way to Baton Rouge and I think it's safe to say our stress levels were a little high. I've never driven in such heavy rain before. It was crazy, we couldn't see 10 feet in front of us because it was raining so hard! Luckily, the rain let up when we finally rolled in to Baton Rouge and by the time we were ready to drive home, the clouds had cleared.

Call me crazy, but in September I decided to start training for a half marathon. If anyone knows anything about me, they know I hate running.. so why I have decided to do this to myself.. I do not know. This is a picture of the trail I run on, it's called the Long Leaf Trace. It runs right behind our apartment, so getting to it is very easy.. pretty much a 2 minute "warm up" walk, haha.  My half marathon is on January 11th in Jackson. I'm still not too sure about it, but Cody is confident in my abilities (I'm glad one of us is.)

Cody got glasses! Going to the eye doctor was a big step for him, but he's glad he can see clearly now. Too much time staring at the computer did not do his eyes very much good, but I really do love his new look :)

I had my first experience with chicken and waffles a few weeks ago and I'm glad to say it didn't disappoint. I wasn't too sure about it when I ordered them, but now I have no hesitations about this wonderful combination. Delicious.

I was able to go home Halloween weekend :) I was so excited because I got to meet baby Duke and Harper. I'm not the best at remembering to take pictures, so believe it or not this is the only one I took my entire trip home, but it's a good one :) I loved being home and seeing all of my family. I was sad to leave Cody behind in Hattiesburg, but he was able to get a lot of school work done and I had no complaints about going home to see my sisters. It was a short trip, but I was ready to come back to Hattiesburg to see Cody when the time came. I guess I hadn't realized how attached I've become to him since moving to Mississippi, but I quickly came to that realization while being away.

We're expecting Cody's mom and Rick for Thanksgiving and we're very excited! We're actually spending Thanksgiving in New Orleans and then coming back to Hattiesburg Friday night. I have never spent much time in New Orleans, so I'm pretty excited to do the tourist thing for a couple of days.  Hopefully I'll remember to take some good pictures to post :)

All in all, we are doing very well here in Hattiesburg. We have great friends and love our ward. It was definitely an adjustment when we first moved here, but we have been really blessed. Cody is almost done with the semester and we are both very excited about it! Cody is ready for a break and I'm excited for him to be able to relax a little :)
