Catch up!

So I guess this post is just going to be a bunch of pictures along with some commentary of what we've been doing for the past 2 months! I'm obviously behind and need to catch up with what's been going on.

Well #1 on my list...... I GOT IN TO NURSING SCHOOL! WOOHOO!! Let me tell you, it was a long wait for that dang letter, but it FINALLY came the 2nd week in April and it felt so good to finally know what I was going to be doing for the next 2 years of my life!

School started May 19th and so far so good. I actually have to take Bible classes since it is a private Baptist university, so I decided to take Old Testament in a 2 week mini session. I wanted have it over with before my nursing classes started. It was quite the marathon, but we covered the whole Old Testament in 2 weeks. We obviously didn't read the whole thing, but we learned all we could in the time we had. Genesis - Deuteronomy the first week and Joshua - Malachi the second week.. haha! Thanks to those days in primary I received 10 extra credit points at the end of the class for being able to list all 39 books in the correct oder. Gotta love those primary songs!

I actually really enjoyed the class. I was pretty nervous walking in on the first day. I just wasn't sure what to expect, but it was a really good experience. Being in that class actually helped strengthen my testimony of the gospel. I am so grateful to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It is such a huge blessing in my life and I am so grateful for the knowledge it gives me of a loving Savior and Heavenly Father. It is such a comfort to me to know that God has a plan for me and that He is involved in my everyday life, no matter how small or insignificant I might feel.

My Nursing 101 class and pharmacology class started this week. I feel pretty overwhelmed, but I am really excited to be learning! I feel a little rusty because I have been out of school for so long, but Cody is making sure I keep on top of my studies. I think after being in college for over 7 years, he's got this whole studying thing down pat. :)

Cody started school last week. He is teaching anatomical kinesiology and taking 2 statistic classes this semester. Needless to say we will both be pretty busy this summer!

We ran a 5k together back in March for the LuckyDay foundation at USM. It's fun to get out and do things together. We don't love running, but we've learned it's a necessary evil...

We went to our first Southern Miss baseball game in April! We literally live right next to the baseball fields, so getting there really isn't too tough. Haha. We can usually hear the game from our apartment anyways, so we might as well go and watch, right? The Conference USA tournament was here this year too, so we were able to catch a few games a couple weeks ago. Even though USM didn't win the tournament, we really enjoyed the atmosphere and watching the games with some friends.

Gladys Knight and the Saints Unified Voices came to Hattiesburg at the end of April. We were able to work as ushers at the fireside. It was such a cool experience! Her choir was so awesome! It was also fun to see a few friendly faces in the choir! A little piece of home was here in Hattiesburg :) We really really enjoyed the fireside and you could tell everyone in attendance enjoyed it as well.

We also had the opportunity to go to Louisville, MS last month to help with tornado clean up. It was really hard work, and I was really sunburnt and sore the next day, but I would do it again in a heart beat. I really enjoyed working with other people in our ward and serving the people of Louisville. It was awesome to see how Mormon Helping Hands can bring the saints together to help serve others in our community. Serving others can truly bring joy into one's life and I know it brought joy to mine.

That is the trunk of one of the trees we helped clean up from the tornado. I still cannot fathom that something could be powerful enough to rip something so strong out of the ground.

I had never seen tornado damage before. It was unlike anything I had ever seen. The houses on the left side of the road were totally fine and standing, but the houses on the right side of the road were completely demolished with maybe 1 or 2 walls still standing. It is crazy to me how selective tornadoes can be.

We are still doing really well and enjoying our time here in Hattiesburg. Next month we will have been here for 1 year and I can't believe it! Time has gone by so fast! Everyone told us it would, but I didn't believe them.. now I do. I'm sure the next 2 years are going to fly by now that we're both in school and busy running around to different places.
