thankful :)

While sitting home tonight, I have had the opportunity to reflect and think of all the things I am grateful for in my wonderful life. I couldn't ask for a better husband and best friend. I truly am grateful for him and the drive he has to work hard and improve himself on a daily basis not only for him, but for our future family. I think moving to Hattiesburg has been one of the best things that could have ever happened for our marriage. Over these past couple of months, I have gotten to know Cody in a way that I don't think I would have been able to living back home. We are literally all each other has, and I love it. I don't know what I have ever done in my life to deserve such an amazing companion, but I am very grateful to my Heavenly Father for blessing me with the love of my life. I feel like it was quite the road for both of us to find each other, but now that we have, we are holding on tight and never letting go. My sister sent me this mormon message a couple of weeks ago, and I love it. It is called "Wrong Roads" by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland. If you have 4 minutes.. I would encourage you to watch and listen :)

I am so very grateful for my Heavenly Father's loving hand in my life and the wrong roads I have traveled. Like Elder Holland says, "There are times when the only way to get from A to C is by way of B," and although I have to admit, I have not always enjoyed "B" I am grateful for it because I now know without a doubt, that I am traveling down the right road.

Thanksgiving in NOLA!

The past couple of weeks have gone by really fast! We were so fortunate to have Rick and Shelley here the past couple of days for the Thanksgiving holiday. It was so nice to have family here with us :) I'm sure we would have been okay by ourselves, but we were so glad they were able to come! They flew in to New Orleans on Wednesday afternoon, and we were able to meet them there earlier than expected because I got off work early! Thank you President Bennett!

Well, I can now say I know that there is a difference between the Marriott and the JW Marriott, haha. Rick and Shelley had made reservations for us to stay at the JW Marriott downtown in NOLA, so when typing the hotel info into my phone for directions, I wrote, "Marriott, Canal Street, New Orleans." Come to find out, there are 2 Marriott hotels on Canal Street in NOLA right across the street from each other! One is the normal Marriott and the other is the JW Marriott, but the JW does not have a sign lit up on the front, so we proceeded to valet our car and wait in the Marriott lobby for Rick and Shelley, instead of the JW lobby. We had been waiting for quite some time when Cody received a call from his mom saying they were in the lobby and didn't see us. It took us a little longer than we would like to admit to figure out the mistake we had made, but we eventually made it over to the correct hotel and Shelley quickly informed us about the difference between the 2. Haha!

That night we went to dinner and took a carriage ride around the French Quarter and Jackson Square. It was a really cool experience, minus the fact that it was FREEZING outside! It was unseasonably cold this past weekend, so that is why we are bundled up in all of our pictures!

Jackson Square.

On Thursday we had Thanksgiving dinner at the Court of Two Sisters, the food was really good and we were grateful to be there together with Rick and Shelley :)

We made a few stops at the shops in the French Quarter- Cody found a gator, and I got some beads ;) We actually ran into a parade on the way back to our hotel (that's where the beads came from.. haha.) After a chilly walk back to our hotel, Cody and I decided to end our day with a cup of hot chocolate :)

Friday morning we headed over to Cafe du Monde for some beignets and hot chocolate. It was soooooooooo good! Definitely didn't disappoint. Who knew fried dough and powdered sugar could taste so good?!

After our wonderful, sugar filled breakfast we headed over to the Audubon Zoo. It was pretty cool. Cody was disappointed because the elephant exhibit was closed, but at least we were able to take a picture in front of an elephant fountain! Hahah.

Saturday was a pretty relaxing day.. actually, Saturday was a relaxing day for Cody and Rick. Me and Shelley went on an 8 mile run Saturday morning!

It was great having a running partner for one of my longer runs! Shelley helped me push through to finish the last few miles and helped me set a new PR for my pace :) It was awesome.

The rest of the day was spent watching football. It was definitely the best day of college football there has been all year. Michigan vs Ohio State… Alabama vs Auburn.. AND Southern Miss FINALLY won it's 1st game of the season!!!! Better late than never right? Way to finish strong Eagles… way to finish strong.

Well! These next 2 weeks are crunch time for Cody. This week he is finishing up a final paper and studying for finals. Here is a creeper pic I took of him studying for one of his tests… I don't understand one thing that is on that board, but I'm glad he does.. haha.

I don't know who is more excited for the semester to end, but I know we're both ready for our trip home :)
